Becoming Who You Are – Studying despite Displacement

At the finissage in Berlin, we experienced firsthand the transformative power of education to change lives and inspire hope. The evening was beautifully complemented by an ensemble from the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the world’s most prestigious orchestras and proud musical ambassadors of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

A standout moment was Katja Riemann’s reading from her book “Zeit der Zäune – Orte der Flucht” (“Time of Fences – Places of Refuge”), followed by an inspiring panel discussion with journalist Ann Chukulu and photographer Antoine Tardy, who shared compelling stories and experiences from individuals with refugee backgrounds.

We were honored to support this vital project and reflect on an evening that powerfully illustrated how education and the arts can change lives.
